UK Poker Freeroll Tournaments
Freeroll poker tournaments (freerolls) are special events organised by the poker rooms that generally cost nothing and are ruled by the Organinizing Committee. In freeroll tournaments the jackpot is granted by the hosting poker room and cannot be changed during the event as add-ons and rebuys (i.e. the possibility to buy additional chips during the game) are not allowed.
Even though the freeroll tournaments are free to join, the hosting poker rooms usually fix some admission criteria which limit the access to a particular category of players. It is not unusual to find freerolls reserved only to either new online poker users, players who reached a certain level of points or players who bet cash, etc.
Freeroll tournaments are those events that Americans call “win-win situations” meaning a situation where both parts take advantage which results, for the player, in having the chance of winning real money (or joining tournaments with higher jackpots) without risking his/her own money and, for the poker room, in raising the customer experience or getting the players to deposit real money.
